Feel.click.connect searches the 100-200 most recently updated blogs for occurrences of emotional words. The emotional words it searches for are from a pre-determined list and each has a colour associated with it. The piece updates every five minutes so it always displaying the latest emotions.
For each blog a series of circles are created, one circle for each emotional word found in the blog post, these circles are then placed on top of each other. The size of each circle depends on where in the post the word was found, words found nearer the beginning are smaller in size. The circles are also coloured by the emotion they represent, such as happy is bright yellow.
Each series of circles represents an individual bloggers emotions, these circles are then connected to each other by the emotions used. So if two circles contain the same emotional word they will be connected by a line.
The interface allows you to explore the emotions used by each blogger and explore the sentences which the emotion was used in. It also allows you to explore statistics about the piece, like which emotion was used the most in the last five minutes and also the words used in each post.
Feel.click.connect is designed to look into human emotions used by bloggers to see whether they can be connected by their emotions. As the data is ever changing as people all over the world update their blogs, the emotions of the blogosphere are constantly changing. Feel.click.connect allows us to get a sense of the ever changing emotions by looking at a random selection of the massive amount of blog data.
